Emergency Hood Release | Dead Battery | Porsche Boxster, Cayman 987 (2005 - 2012)

Step by step guide on finding the emergency hood release if you can't get into your Porsche Boxster or Cayman due to a dead battery.

Guide
Remove Torx Screws
Remove the torx screws around the perimeter of the front wheel well liner on the front left (driver's side in U.S.).
Remove Wheel Well Liner
Remove the front wheel well liner but unseating the plastic tabs at the top and working it loose.
Locate Emergency Release
The emergency release is hidden behind the front wheel well liner.
Pull on Emergency Release
Shown here is pulling on it by hand. That is not enough force to get the front trunk to open. Use pliers and give the emergency release a firm tug.
Take precautions to avoid getting cut on the brake rotor or other components, if the pliers slip.
The front trunk should open.
